Day 2 - Voki and Blabberize

PLAY Click here for a video to see voki in action in the classroom.

BLABBERIZE:

The whole process start to finish is easy.  Follow the simple directions on this video to create.
Here are some ideas for use in the classroom:

1. Blabberize an important figure from the past to have that person summarize his/her accomplishments or point of view.
2. Blabberize a student of the day for a "Who I Am" section.
3. Blabberize a famous mathematician explaining a solution to a math problem.
4. Blabberize in a foreign language.
5. One student per week can blabberize a summary of the topics covered.
6. Add a mouth to an inanimate object like a hamburger and discuss its nutritional value.
7.  This is excellent for pronunciation practice for speech or language practice.

  1. I saw this in action last year at NCTIES. Very neat idea---could be used in conjunction with a classroom blog (blabberize the blog entry one week or have a student do it). I like the student interaction part. Maybe even use it for chapter or unit reviews before a test?

  2. Fun tools! Teachers could make a voki for themselves and link it in their Staff Information on their Blackboard Course. Here is a link to one I made!

  3. Howdy again!
I didn't get sound and I don't know why. I had it turned up. That's one of the annoying things about technology, but I always have a back up plan in my head...just in case.

Anyway...I've never seen Blabberize before, but I plan to check it out. My students loved using Voki and Xtranormal to share their superhero stories. For Voki they didn't need to use any account, thy just e-mailed their products to me.

  4. thought of another idea for blabberize: Biography projects...students get a photo of their famous person and record the "report"!

  5. Love the idea of using it as part of an interactive biography project. Neat option instead of something like photostory. This could take a lot of time in the "regular" classroom, but would be a great use of the laptops or center activities.

  6. Love that idea Kara. The possibilities are endless and once they know how to do it, it could be pretty simple.

  7. I've used blabberize with animal reports. The students pick out a few sentences from thier report to read and they have a picture of the animal.
I've used voki with first graders. They have read poems that they wrote.

  8. I like Blabberize so much better because the sound is much more "normal."

  9. Cute idea!! Can you take these talking pictures and put them in flip charts? Imagine all the great lessons that you could create and save to use year after year! (Or class after class if you say the same thing several times!) The kids would LOVE this! ~Nichole

  10. Funny- as I was listening to the talking dolphin, I thought of exactly what Kara said!! A biography report! Fun idea:)

Voki seemed very cool as well! I like that the students "heard" their mistakes when it was being read back to them. And were able to hear what didn't make sense.
