Day 14: Technology Integration Matrix

This matrix is a wonderful resource!

http://fcit.usf.edu/matrix/matrix.phpThe Technology Integration Matrix (TIM) illustrates how teachers can use technology to enhance learning for K-12 students. The TIM incorporates five interdependent characteristics of meaningful learning environments: active, constructive, goal directed (i.e., reflective), authentic, and collaborative (Jonassen, Howland, Moore, & Marra, 2003). The TIM associates five levels of technology integration (i.e., entry, adoption, adaptation, infusion, and transformation) with each of the five characteristics of meaningful learning environments. Together, the five levels of technology integration and the five characteristics of meaningful learning environments create a matrix of 25 cells..  (http://fcit.usf.edu/matrix/matrix.php)

  1. What a great resource! I liked the video example for 5th grade math under the Infusion / Goal Directed Matrix.

  2. With the implementation of common core that integrates technology next year, this might be a good thing to do at a teacher training session to show teachers how it all "flows" together. I know it's hard for a lot of teachers (myself included) to get out of the "Entry" stage...
    Great reference.

  3. This is a great resource for all teachers who want to use more techonology in their classroom, but may not have ideas of their own.
